The Thrive Kitchen welcomes award-winning chef Bryant Terry to the Kaiser Permanente San Francisco Medical Center on Wednesday, Feb. 12 to do a plant-based cooking demonstration and book signing for his latest cookbook, Vegetable Kingdom.

Chef Terry joins Linda Shiue, MD, KPSF internist and professionally trained chef, who leads a hands-on, healthy cooking class featuring a different menu each month.

Based in Oakland, California, Terry is a winner of the prestigious James Beard Award as well as an educator and author, renowned for his activism to create a healthy, just, and sustainable food system. Since 2015 he has been the chef-in-residence at the Museum of the African Diaspora (MoAD) in San Francisco where he creates public programming at the intersection of food, farming, health, activism, art, and culture.

Chef Terry will demonstrate his recipe for citrus and garlic-herb braised fennel with sunchoke cream. After the demo, participants will have the opportunity to sample the recipe and purchase a signed copy of Vegetable Kingdom.

The class will be held at the Mission Bay Medical Offices, 1600 Owens St., from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m.
