Free Training Runs for the Kaiser Permanente Half Marathon

If you’re training to run the Kaiser Permanente Half Marathon & 5K on Sunday, February 4th, 2018, don’t miss the chance to build your skills alongside others planning to run the race.

Join the free training runs hosted by Pamakid Runners, Kaiser Permanente, and A Runner’s Mind. This year, there will be three training runs, and the first one is this Sunday!

All runs start at 9 a.m. and all ages and ability levels are welcome. Meeting locations vary from week to week, so check the schedule below and find more information on our Facebook page.

Schedule

Sunday, January 14th, 9 – 11 am.  There will be training runs for both half marathon and 5K runners at all levels. We will demo ASICS shoes and Nuun products for this session.

Where: Meet at A Runner’s Mind, 3575 Sacramento Street., San Francisco.

Parking suggestion: Street parking near the store on Sacramento Street, California Street, and around the neighborhood (parking meters not in effect on Sundays).

Sunday, January 21st, 9 – 11 am.  Bay Area-based running coach Mario Fraioli, who has guided numerous Olympic Trials and Boston qualifiers, will be leading a course preview through Golden Gate Park and the Great Highway. We will offer a few distance options for runners training for both the 5K and the Half Marathon.

Where: Meet at San Francisco Conservatory of Flowers, 100 John F. Kennedy Drive, Golden Gate Park.

Sunday, January 28th, 9 – 11 a.m. For our final training run, we will have training runs for both half marathon and 5K for runners at all levels.

Where: Meet at A Runner’s Mind, 3575 Sacramento Street in San Francisco.

Jodi Thirtyacre, Race Team Captain

Veteran marathon runner Jodi Thirtyacre works for Kaiser Permanente as the manager of the Department of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology at the San Francisco Medical Center. Jodi began running when she was only nine and ran track in high school. She kept up her regimen in college and ran her first marathon at 21. Jodi is the captain of Kaiser Permanente's teams for the Half Marathon and 5K.
